with every dig
of my spade
the robin follows

branches creaking and scratching—
to the raven's squawk.

planning my journey
see a crow fly by
tiny, colourful

hummingbird power
dead pine tree branch
woodpecker's territory
so his drumming says
watching an eagle
soaring high through the sky
feeling of freedom
urgently needed
doves with olive branches
bringers of peace
two ravens dig through
my horse's fresh manure
looking for what?
tooting at night
two tawny owls
a couple, I guess

spring has begun
some time in autumn
